54.   Write down the steps to change boot order.

àSteps:

·         Start your computer. As soon as you see the manufacturer’s logo, press the Setup key repeatedly. (Setup key varies depends on manufacturer and model.)

·         As long as you pressed the correct key, the BIOS will load.

·         Once you enter your computer’s BIOS setup utility, look for an option to change the boot order. All BIOS utilities are slightly different, but it might be under a menu option called Boot, Boot Options, Boot Sequence, or even under an Advanced Options tab

·         Once you’ve located the page for boot order options in BIOS, you’ll see a list of options that your computer can load up from. It typically include: Hard Drive, Optical (CD or DVD) Drive, Removable Devices (e.g. USB or Floppy), and Network.

·         Change the list order so that the option you want is listed first.

·         Navigate to the Save and Exit or Exit menu and choose an option that says, “Save Changes” or “Exit with Changes Saved” (or something similar)

·         Your computer will automatically restart with changed setting once you exit BIOS

Solutions:

·         Make sure the monitor is turned on

·         Fix processor on CPU socket.

·         Fix RAM properly on memory slot

·         Connect monitor correctly to the computer.

·         Turn up the brightness and contrast

·         Fix the display card properly on expansion slot

·         Replace the monitor

·         Check the SMPS

·         Try moving your mouse, clicking the mouse buttons, or pressing any key (e.g., spacebar) to wake it up.



58.   Write about general troubleshooting techniques.

à Here are some general Troubleshooting Techniques as follows:-

·         Always Check Cables – If you're having trouble with a specific piece of computer hardware, such as monitor or keyboard, first step is to check all related cables to make sure they're connected and working properly.

·         Write down each Step – Once you start troubleshooting write down each and every step you take. This will make you easy to remember what you had done and can avoid repeating same mistake.

·         Take Note of Error Message – If your computer gives you an error message, be sure to write as much information as possible. You may able to use this information to find out solution if other people are having the same error.

·         Restart Computer – When all else fails, restarting the computer could sometime do the trick.

 

59.   How do you troubleshoot boot time error? Explain.

à These steps resolve the most of boot time error. Those Steps are as follows:-

·         A non-bootable drive containing media (i.e. Pen drive, CD) is listed first in the boot order in BIOS. In this case you need to confirm that first boot device should be HDD in BIOS Setup Page so that Invalid System disk, Boot failure problem will solved.

·          The computer’s system drive is not properly identified or data or power cables of internal hard disk to the motherboard are loose or have failed then hard disk error occurs. So check the cable or replace new cable or tight cable for remove those errors.

·          The HDD drive has failed cause errors like NT boot loader missing and Missing Operation System. If H.D.D is damage replace the new hard disk and install new O/S. Those types of errors also occurs due to System file missing, corrupted. To solve problem best is re-install the OS from same O/S Version.

 

60.   Write down the steps to create 3 partition on hard disk of 500GB having single partition.

àSteps:

1.       Right-click This PC and select Manage.

2.       Open Disk Management

3.       Right-click your main drive and select Shrink Volume

4.       Now you need to enter the amount you want to shrink the hard disk by in megabytes

5.       After the Shrink is done, you will then see the region of unallocated space (shaded black). Remember, this space is not yet usable.

6.       Right-click the region of unallocated space and select New Simple Volume.

7.       This launches the New Simple Volume Wizard. This guides you through the installation process.

8.       Now, Enter the partition's size

9.       Assign the disk a drive letter. You can choose any drive letter that is not currently in use.

10.   Select a file system for the disk.

11.   Name the partition in the Volume Label text box. You can choose any name for your partition.

12.   Now click Finish to create the new partition.

13.   Again repeat the above steps from step-6 to create other 2 partition.
